OUTBURST PERFORMS AT MAJOR PINKNEY'S FAREWELL

It wasn't easy to coordinate, and in the end it wasn't really a surprise, but on November 20, 2008, OUTBURST did a special performance for Major Frank Pinkney at his Farewell Ceremony held in the Air Force Mess in Ottawa. Frank retired on November 17th after 35 years of service.

With a room full of friends, family, and colleagues, and Frank sitting front and center, the quartet sang 4 songs; Feelin' Groovy, California Dreamin' and The Christmas Song, along with a special message from Debbie to Frank in There, I've Said it Again.

OUTBURST's Bass Carol Dubue made her quartet debut at this event marking her first public performance. Carol admits to being nervous but you never would have guessed it by her singing, she did a terrific job!

Santina, Nancy, Carol and especially Debbie would like everyone to know it was an honor and a privilege to sing for Frank on this very special day.

The origin of OUTBURST!

OUTBURST was born in the spring of 2008 when long-time quartet-mates Santina Scalzo (Lead), Nancy Mantle (Baritone) and Debbie Pinkney (Tenor) added Carol Dubue as their new Bass. After several rehearsals, a few opinions from some experienced ears, and some very positive feedback, they were on their way! Naming a quartet is always a challenge but it didn't take long before everyone agreed OUTBURST was perfect. It was just a matter of getting final approval on the name from Sweet Adelines International and, voila, there was an OUTBURST! And there are always plenty of outbursts when these four are together...outbursts of song, outbursts of laughter, and outbursts of enthusiasm!

Now they are in "Contest Mode", practicing the package, shopping for outfits, getting the interp just right, shopping for jewelry, adding choreo, shopping for shoes, getting lots of coaching, and having a blast doing it all! The winter will be spent perfecting the package they hope will serve them well, and of course, shopping!

This blog is a journal of sorts, but it is here for all the friends and loved ones who want to keep up on the outbursts of OUTBURST! Updates will be added whenever possible and comments are always welcome!
